PR (Page Rank) = an indicator (a scale from 1 to 10) of how important your website is.

IBLs (Inbound Links) = an indicator of the number of websites that link to you.

So what’s their importance??? PR has been debated for a long time if its still important or not. For me, its still important but not a big factor anymore unlike before where in PR was the gold! Today, PR is still useful because if you have high PR, more sites would want to link to you. Sometimes they’ll even offer you money or other links. You can also have a good reputation when you have a high PR. One of the biggest benefit of PR is as I’ve said, webmasters and other guys would chase you or even beg to link to you.

It also gives you a good site to launch new sites from, A high PR site will help any new sites get crawled and indexed very quickly by placing a link to the new site, from the high PR site.

As for SERPS, well PR doesnt really give much of an indication on how well you will rank. It still depends on your sites IBL’s and the anchor text that is being used in the backlinks.

Now we go to the importance of IBL, well most of us know how important this is. Using your keywords on your anchor text is a must. If your just building links and your not optimizing your anchor text then, most likely, you won’t rank well in SE’s. Your IBL’s should also be related to your site so that it’ll be relevant and the traffic that comes to your site from those IBL’s are still targeted and of course as much as possible check the page and the PR. To have a better idea, imagine IBL’s as votes for your sites. More IBL’s means more votes.
